"GOING GREEN"

"FEEDING OUR COMMUNITY"

"ENGAGING the MIND and SPIRIT in an INTIMATE SETTING"

On the hill where Jesus died, there were placed on either side of him two other men on crosses—both criminals. One of the men, in a rebellious tone, voiced only criticism of Jesus, while the other, in the light of his own moral failings, recognized Jesus’ innocence. This man sought mercy from Jesus, believing in Jesus’ divinity.

We at West Valley Christian Center describe ourselves as the “three crosses church”. We chose this tagline for two reasons. First, at the front of our property stand three large crosses announcing the location of our church. And second, we understand that Jesus bridged the gap between the two criminals on their crosses. From rebelliousness to mercy, Jesus restores balance in the lives of those who seek Him.

We also admit that we are a community of rebels and hypocrites, like the first criminal. And then, like with the second criminal, we see our sin juxtaposed against the backdrop of Jesus’ purity. Jesus promised this second thief that he’d be in God’s kingdom at death, despite his iniquity. And this, not because of anything the man could do himself, but because of his repentant heart and trust in who Jesus is.

We too are thieves in proximity to Jesus… He allows us in all our imperfections to come and stand in relation with God, growing into the image God intends for us. This is the core of who we are at West Valley Christian Center.
